Kevlar was first developed by Stephanie Kwolek and Roberto Berendt for the DuPont chemical company in 1965. Kevlar comes
in three forms, Kevlar 29, Kevlar 49 and Kevlar 149, all of which have slightly different properties. All forms
of Kevlar are extremely strong yet have a low density so are relatively lightweight, these properties make
it a suitable material for a range of products from bulletproof vests to boat hulls.
